This week in theatre 4/3/2008 HEALING HANDS “Well, we have to be able to read our scripts,” said Stephanie Colburn, stage manager for “TheWomen of Lockerbie,” the next staged reading from Tulsa’s senior-focused theater group. And you’ll want to hear the words of playwright Deborah Brevoort when the play opens at Heller Theatre, 5328 S. Wheeling Ave., 8 p.m. Thursday. The play is based on the response of women living in Lockerbie, Scotland, after a terrorist’s bomb killed all 259 passengers aboard Pan Am Flight 103 en route from London to New York City in December 1988. The plane exploded over the town, scattering wreck and horrific ruin across the area. By starting the Laundry Project, the women began a healing process that began with gathering clothes and personal items found, washing them and returning them to the families of the victims. The play continues at 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $6-$8. For reservations, call 746-5065. |
